Demarc Extension Services
Schneider Engineering and Technology can help get your organization online by providing a demarc extension, a routine service needed by many businesses.
A demarc extension is the process of connecting your organization’s network to a data line–such as a T1, DSL, or POTS–provided by the telephone company or another vendor. The “demarcation point” (or “demarc” for short) is the spot at your location where the vendor terminates their circuit. Beyond this point it is your responsibility to connect your network to that demarcation point. The demarc cabling must be extended to reach a wiring closet or some sort of data distribution system in order to integrate with your network. Depending on your needs and the layout of the site, services for a circuit extension can vary greatly. Our company has experience performing demarc extensions in many environments, warehouses, offices, schools, shopping malls, and high-rise buildings.
Our company can provide a simple extension for your IT department to work with or a full-service network integration. Our solutions are always custom-tailored to the needs of our clients. Here are some examples of our most common services:
Our company runs cable (typically UTP Cat5e) from the Minimum Point of Entry (MPOE) or Telco Closet to an equipment room or the Main Distribution Frame (MDF). Cable runs are neatly arranged and concealed as much as possible with mounting hardware provided by Our company. Cables are tested and neatly labeled. Once Our company has extended the demarc to a wiring closet, your IT department can take over for the rest of the network.
An often overlooked aspect of decommissioning or closing an office is the removal of the cabling otherwise known as cable abatement. Often the terms of your lease or local fire or building codes mandate that the cabling must be removed. At Schneider Engineering and Technology, our team can help you by removing structured cabling.
When a customer purchases a new dedicated-circuit T1 line, the vendor will provide a start date on which the circuit goes live. Test signals are then sent to ensure proper communication. Our company has extensive experience in working with telephone companies from the client’s side in order to make sure your new circuit is working properly.
For certain applications, a client may need the installation of a router configured to receive data from a certain source. Our company can readily conduct the installation of such a router with a demarc extension.
